apartment anzère, conversion
client: private programme : living room, kitchen, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms dates: project and execution 2009 collaboration: françois meyer architecture, sion
this project, located in the centre of anzère, a mountain village created ex-nihilo in the 60s by architect jean hentsch, binds together physically and visually the 2 apartments of the two upper levels of the building. the classical “jumbo chalet” typology plan was preserved in the lower level of the duplex: bedrooms facing north, services in the middle and living spaces facing south.
with the addition of the second floor, it became possible to integrate a double-height over the living room. an extra room, this time heading south and enjoying a large view on the alpine panorama, occupies the rest of the second level. the integration of this room and of the double-height made the pre-existing organisation of the plan vary; the apartment offers a much more complex spatiality and a visual relation between parts of the programme formerly walled.
the outer volumetry and the size of the openings were left unaltered in a way to recognise the quality of jean hentsch’s project and the integration of the building in the unity that defines the town square of anzère. |
