st barthélémy bridge, évionnaz, competition
client : canton of valais program : new bridge over st-barthélémy's river dates : competition february 2010 civil engineer : alpatec sa, martigny
the bridge is adapted to the topography of the site. the large span highlights the crossing of the st barthélémy mountain stream. on the heavily-wooded south-east side, a pile made of circular tubes of corten steel resembles the surrounding tree-trunks and enables the span to be reduced. the main girders, in zinc-plated steel, reflect their surroundings and thus reduce their impact on the landscape. the static system, comprising single girders on three supports, makes implementation simple and economical.
